Tiger Chemical Treatment (Pty) Ltd (TCT) and Rechem Industries (Pty) Ltd have been operational since 1987 and treat effluent streams emanating from the metal finishing industries and refineries. The types of wastes treated include soluble oils/oil/water mixtures, spent acids and spent caustics. Where possible, metals such as copper, zinc, nickel and cobalt are reclaimed in the form of a filter cake which is then sent to refineries for further purification.

The effluents are either collected by TCT's tanker trucks or are delivered to the treatment plant by third parties. The treatment facility is situated in Knights, Germiston, Gauteng and the main treatment process is hydrometallurgical.
